The US Army’s M37 Field Trousers were standard issue starting in 1938, replacing earlier designs and forming the backbone of the new, practical two-piece service uniform for the Army Air Corps in 1937, and most other branches soon after. They were made of wool and featured a high waist, button fly, and multiple pockets, including two front slash pockets and two rear seat pockets. Although designed for versatility, these trousers were famously worn by many soldiers in the harsh conditions of World War II, including the Normandy invasion.
