US Army M2 Helmet Liner Leather Chin Strap

The US Army’s M2 helmet liner did not have a leather chin strap; the M2 was a modified M1 helmet for paratroopers that used a specialized chinstrap that attached to the steel shell, with the liner having its own separate A-style leather strap that was secured with inverted “A” straps and a female fastener on the liner itself. The purpose of the modified system was to prevent the liner and shell from separating during jumps.
