The history of the US M42 Paratrooper Reinforced Jump Trousers is rooted in the need for specialized equipment for airborne troops, leading to their development starting in 1942. They became iconic, particularly during the Normandy and Market Garden operations, and were reinforced by “riggers” with canvas on the knees and other areas to increase durability before these jumps.
